Body Scrubs

Choosing a body scrub is as simple as comparing the ingredients to the result your are trying to achieve. Most of the time, when people purchase a scrub from my site, they buy something solely based on what it smells like. That's cool and all, but other elements should be considered!

Body scrubs are generally composed of an exfoliant such as sugar or salt, an oil such as coconut oil, and an essential oil such as lavender or geranium. Depending on how you are going to use the scrub will determine if you need to use sugar, salt or a different exfoliating agent. For instance, salt should never be used on the face because the granules are harsh and an be a bit too abrasive for the face. Sugar is optimal for the face and other sensitive areas of your body because it dissolves in water and the granules are a bit smaller than salt.

Do your research! If you struggle with dry skin or have dry patches on your skin, you also want to consider a body scrub that has a good carrier oil such as coconut oil. I love using coconut oil personally, but because coconut oil begins to melt at about 76 degrees, it can make your scrubs a little "runny." This isn't a bad thing, you can just pop it into the fridge and it'll firm back up. Coconut helps to keep your skin hydrated and also has antibacterial properties.

Another awesome oil that is often found in body scrubs is olive oil. Like coconut oil, olive oil also has antibacterial properties and if you are prone to acne, using products like soaps that contain olive oil kills off the bacteria that causes acne outbreaks. For those that wear makeup, olive oil is very effective in makeup removal, and works amazing in removing eye makeup.

Lastly, let's talk about essential oils. This is my favorite part actually! Essential oils are "concentrated hydrophobic liquids containing volatile aroma compounds from plants." I literally copied that from Google, LOL. Essential oils are basically a really concentrated oil derived from plants. Because of the high concentration of the oils, essential oils can be extremely beneficial in skincare. I often use a mixture of fragrance oils and EO because I want you to get the benefits of peppermint and eucalyptus, and also make it smell divine! All of the fragrances we use are phthalate free, which means they don't contain plastics and other harmful chemicals.

Again, whatever your preference or need is will determine what kind of scrub you are in need of. Take a look at the benefits listed and choose accordingly. We look forward to seeing your results from using our products! Give your skin the royal treatment, today.
